October Events at Brads

Published 26 days ago • 6 min read

Hej Reader,

October, the spooky season! Whether you are more of a cosy spooky soul or a scary spooky soul, we know this season is special as the leaves turn red and the air turns crisp. And nothing is better than embracing this season than with a pumpkin spice milkshake, board games and amazing company at Brads!

So let us go over all our events and see what we can tempt you in with!

NB: There is no need to sign up for the quizzes; they are free; however, we recommend booking a table to ensure you have a seat for quiz time.

What is the Social Table, you ask?

The Social Table is a table we book, and you join to play!

Come alone or with someone, but be prepared to mix it up with some friendly folk who are looking for company and learn a new board game too!

This event is all about facilitating connections and creating an environment of fun and friendship where you can meet new people and expand your knowledge of board games.

Board games are a great way to spend an hour or five, have easy-going conversations, and combat loneliness and boredom. So if you want to meet some lovely people, make friends with them, and play some games, come and join the social table!

Don't forget to check our game reviews on Instagram throughout the month. Or just come along and play them in the café!

Read about why our game host chose the games they chose this month:

1st Sagrada with Mariam

This dice drafting is fun, beautiful and just the right amount of strategy to make it interesting without being overwhelming.

6th Pandemic with Mariam

This co-op game, where the stakes feel high, the failure rate is real but you somehow have fun anyways!

8th Courtisans with Sinéy

Can you manipulate the Queen’s table to ensure your families stay in favour and your enemies fall from the Queen's grace? This is what this game is about. Pick three cards representing members of different families and lay them down at the table, by yourself or to another player, all to shift which families will end up on top!

15th Panda Royale with Sinéy

Cute pandas, pretty dice and drafting mechanisms - all things that make for a great game night!

Starting with one die, over ten rounds, who can draft their way to the highest score!

18th The Resistance with Marina

The mission must succeed. You and your fellow rebels have to build a team to make it happen — but the Empire's spies are already sitting at this table, smiling, nodding, definitely not sabotaging anything. Trust no one. Suspect everyone. Someone at this table is lying to your face right now — could be him, could be her, could be you, and you just haven't been caught yet.

20th Wyrmspan with Lene

You are an amateur dracologist in the world of Wyrmspan, a place where dragons of all shapes, sizes, and colours roam the skies. Excavate a hidden labyrinth you recently unearthed on your land and entice these beautiful creatures to roost in the sanctuary of your caves. Wyrmspan is a must-play for anyone who loves engine-building games and/or dragons.

22nd Once upon a time with Joakim

Once upon a time there was a little cabin in the woods, and in this cabin there lived a tiny little bird named… Well, what was this bird's name? That is up to the storyteller to tell. In this beautiful game, you are just that; you have to get the story to the point so it matches your end of the storycard, but beware, someone else can jump into the story and change the plot to something completely different! So get ready for an evening of a cosy and crazy story

29th Wizard with Lene

You are a magical apprentice honing your foresight capabilities in this trick-taking game. With the help of wizards and jesters, you will collect card stacks and try to meet the goal you set yourself. As one of my personal all-time favourite card games, I recommend it to anyone who wants to think strategically while getting nervous about what shenanigans your fellow players are up to.

DND One Shot - Beg. Friendly

An intro one-shot into the amazing and iconic world of DND.

The RPG that started RPG as a hobby for many of us. And now it is your turn to get into the amazing fantasy world of Dungeons and Dragons.

Fiasco RPG One Shot

Fiasco is a rules-light and chaos-heavy RPG. It's a fantastic start for anyone who has never roleplayed before.

Together as a group, we make characters and tell a story that is chaotic, weird, and so, so much fun!

Mothership RPG One Shot

Mothership is set in the future when humanity has travelled to interstellar space.

You’ll excavate dangerous derelict spacecraft, explore strange unknown worlds, encounter hostile alien life and examine the horrors encroaching upon your every move.

It is designed from the get-go to be easy to play, but hard to survive!

Will you survive the horrors with your life or sanity? We certainly hope so!

Welcome to Magic: The Gathering at Brads!

Have you heard about Magic: The Gathering and thought it looked fun, but just had no idea where or how to start?

Well, we know that feeling. It can be hard to step into a new hobby, especially one as extensive and overwhelming as trading card games (TCG).

So we have two amazing hosts who want to make it easy for you to try it out and discover for yourselves what makes Magic: The Gathering so magical. We will have a short intro session to explain the core concepts before our hosts guide you into your first tournament. If you have played a little before, we will balance the experience levels to ensure it is fair to all.

You don't need any experience, or even your own deck! We've got everything covered. All you need to do is show up and be ready to fall in love with your new obsession.

So if you are a full-on newbie with zero experience, or you've just started and want more chances to explore your new hobby, come along to our MTG event on the 24th Oct!

Clownspiracy takes over Brads spelcafe!

Do you dare to open a mysterious suitcase filled with secrets?

We have one more very special event happening on the 17th October, starting at kl 17. We are getting "invaded" by Clownspiracy, a small event company that we are so excited to be working with.

Clownspiracy is coming to Brad's Spelcafé with 2 different portable escape games, their successful Japanese Fortune Teller game, and they are launching the brand new Snorty McFizzel's Suitcase of Secrets.

Gather your smartest, bravest or most gullible friends and get ready for an hour filled with tricky puzzles, hidden clues, strange objects and locks that definitely won't open out of politeness.

Please note: This event is being organised by Clownspiracy, and you can get tickets directly from them. We are not in charge of or able to process queries about payment, refund or cancellation policies! The links included here will redirect you to their site where you can read more and purchase your ticket to this amazing experience!

Do make sure to sign up for the ones you want as soon as you can to secure your spot.

We have such a busy October ahead of us, and we are so excited about all our events; we hope you are too!

Make sure to book the ones you are most excited about to secure your seat, and we will be ready to greet you with a cool pumpkin spice milkshake or a warming pumpkin spice latte!

See you at Brads,

Sinéy & the Brads Team

PS: If you have an event idea or would like to host an event with us, please reach out to siney@brads.se. We love to collaborate and support community events!
